20 yr Old Imprisoned for Attempting to Murder His Father

A young man has been remanded in prison by a magistrate court for attempting to murder his own further following a misunderstanding.

The 20 yr old identified as Abubakar Haruna was remanded in Katsina prisons for allegedly attacking his father Haruna Ilele with a stick with the intention to kill him.

Abubakar was charged to court alongside Tukur Mani, 25, of Gazarwa village; Ibrahim Mohammed,18, of Leletu village; and Sani Idi , 25, of Yarsanta village; all the accused were remanded in prison in connection with the attempted murder.

The defendants are expected to remain in prison custody until November 19, 2018, when their case would come up for mention before Hajiya Fadile Dikko of  the Katsina Senior Magistrates’ Court.

The defendants are being charged with criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide and  membership of an armed robbery gang, which according to the  police are contrary to sections 97,95 and 306 of the Penal Code.

According to a police report, Haruna, of Makuka village in the Danmusa Local Government Area of the state, had invited Mani from Gazarwa village, to attack his father with a  stick with the intention of killing him.

The accused persons are also alleged to have committed other crimes, including burgling of shops at Yarsanta and Leletu villages where they allegedly made away with items worth N120,000.

The defendants also allegedly stole  a bull valued at N120,000 belonging to one Rabe, a cattle farmer although the animal was reportedly returned to its owner by some repentant cattle rustlers.

Police prosecutor, Inspector Sani Ado, informed newsmen on Thursday that investigations into the case had been concluded and the case file had been sent to the state Ministry of Justice for legal advice.

He, therefore, prayed the magistrate for an adjournment while the accused persons were remanded in prison.
