Femi Kuti, son of Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti has stated that he will not be supporting Buhari or Osinbajo.

Femi said he was doing this because of his father and his beliefs.

The afrobeat star said this during Felabration, an annual event celebrating the music and artistry of the late, great Fela.

Vice President Osinbajo was present while Kuti was saying this as he was in attendance with other dignitaries.

“When I went to his (Osinbajo’s) house, he asked me to support him and he is here now and I am saying no. I won’t support him because of my father.” Femi said while addressing the crowd.

“But he is my friend, he said he understands and respects my view.

“He said he has been hearing about the shrine and wants to come and I’m very happy he came.

“When he got here he didn’t know the place was like this and he has seen that we are not mad people.”

Osinbajo didn’t seem to take offence as he said in response,“The country will be great no matter what happens.

“Everybody will be great and our country will be greater.”

Fela Kuti was a human rights activist and his music reflected this, Back during the military regime, he spoke out against oppressive rule and was persecuted and was even jailed while Buhari was the military head of state.
