I will Not Return to Court for Trial – Nnamdi Kanu

3 Min Read
IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu

The leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has defiantly vowed not to return to Nigeria to face his criminal trial at a Federal High court in Abuja where he was standing trial before he skipped bail.

After his world press conference yesterday, the IPOB leader resumed his usual broadcast via Radio Biafra, where he boasted that the Nigerian court lacked the authority to try him.

Nnamdi Kanu further charged Justice Binta Nyako to ask the Nigeria Army why his residence was invaded and 28 people killed instead of asking his sureties to produce him in court.

“The Nigerian court is a Kangaroo court. I did not jump bail, I left because the court failed to protect me.

I shall not be honouring the court. I cannot be tried by a court I do not recognise. The zoo called Nigeria cannot jail me. I will fight till the last day. Till now, Binta Nyanko’s court has yet to hold a hearing about the circumstances that led the Nigerian Army to come to my house to kill 28 people. Only upon a clear pronouncement of the intentions of that very court, which I suggest to them should be free, will this very case move forward.

Going forward, there must be guarantee from the international community so that this case can proceed and I will prove once and for all that there is something fundamentally wrong with the brains of those that rule Nigeria.” He said

The Nigerian Federal Government had arrested and charged Nnamdi Kanu to court on charges of Treason after he had numerous messages against the Nigerian government via his Radio Biafra and causing a lot of unrest in the south-east.

He was granted bail by Justice Binta Nyako of the federal high court Abuja after being in             DSS custody for 18 months.

Kanu had flouted all the conditions of the bail he was granted before the military invaded his Abia residence on September 14, 2017.

He had been declared missing ever since before the IPOB leader resurfaced at the wailing wall in Jerusalem on Friday.
