Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso

Former Governor of Kano State, Rabiu Kwankwaso has allegedly threatened to dump PDP after a disagreement.

The presidential hopeful who had just rejoined PDP some months ago was reported to have said that he’d walk away if the party’s leadership removes any member of his Kwankwasiyya movement from the list of aspirants contesting in Kano State.

According to the Daily Trust, the senator was upset after parallel primaries were held by another PDP faction in the state with the mindset of presenting its own candidate for gubernatorial elections

This was after there had been primaries in the state in which candidates handpicked by Kwankwaso emerged winners

The PDP’s national leadership had then attempted to  review the list of both factions which angered the former governor.

In a 2-hour meeting, he had threatened to walk away from the PDP.

According to a source for the Daily Trust: “Kwankwaso told the gathering that any move to remove any member of Kwankwasiyya from the aspirants list will lead to his defection from PDP.

“However, the Doguwa-led faction also threatened to dump the party if the leadership failed to review the list of aspirants.

“The meeting ended in a deadlock. Neither Kwankwaso nor Doguwa faction agreed to accept the terms offered by the leadership of the party.”
