A traditional title holder in the Daura Emirate in Katsina State, Alhaji Aburrahaman Danmalan, has urged politicians to exercise decency and decorum in their campaigns as the 2019 general elections draw nearer.
Danmalan, who is the Danmamin Daura, made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Daura on Thursday.
He identified rancor, blackmail and thuggery by politicians as some of the factors reatarding the growth of democracy in the country.
Danmadami also advised the youth not to allow themselves to be used by politicians to commit acts capable of negating the nation’s hard-earned democracy, pointing out that none of those politicians would use his children For such dastardly acts.
He advised both members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and their counterparts in the opposition Peoples Democratic (PDP) to eschew bitterness and play by the rules of game.
Danmalan, who is also a public commentator and a political analyst, then, called on farmers not to sell off their crops which they harvested during the current bumper harvest unnecessarily,as doing so, would give food merchants the opportunity to create food scarcity in order to make profit.
He commended the Federal Government for revirtilisingthe agriculture sector through the introduction of various agricultural incentives to farmers such as the Anchor Borrowers borrower programme which he said, had made significant impact on the people by boosting food security and employment generation.
He also lauded the federal government for its efforts at providing roads, railways, electricity and security.
The Danmadami also commended the administration of Gov. Amina Masari of Katsina State for it’s giant strides in education ,security and agriculture, adding that, ” we have been substantially freed from the Incidences of cattle rustling, armed robbery and drug abuse.”(NAN)
