Joining APC Won’t Stop Your Criminal Prosecution – Party Replies Fayose

full list of charges against Fayose

The Ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has added its voice to the unfolding drama between one time government critic and one time strongman of Ekiti Politics, Ayodele Fayose and his Party, the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The party has issued a caveat to the outgoing governor of Ekiti state will not escape prosecution at the expiration of his tenure should he make moves to join APC in reaction to Fayose’s statement of intention to quit the PDP.

The view of the party was revealed when the National Publicity Secretary of the APC Yekini Nabena, APC’s  granted a phone interview to the National Daily Independent.

Mr. Nabena said the outgoing governor of Ekiti State would be committing a grevious error if he thinks defecting to the ruling party will shield him from prosecution if found guilty.

His words;

“Nigerians know that this is a progressive party. No matter what if found guilty he will be dealt with according to the dictates of the law.

It is wishful thinking for anyone to believe that joining APC will shield him from prosecution if found guilty. Whether he likes he can join APC, SDP or any other political party, the law will take its course. It is only under APC government that high ranking people have gone to jail.

So, if Fayose likes let him come, the law will still catch up with him if found guilty. Tell Nigerians and the world, that even if Fayose comes to APC, the law will catch up with him if found guilty.”

This comes in the light of fayose’s statement that he may quit the PDP following the fallout of the recently concluded PDP national convention and Presidential primaries which was won by former vice President, Atiku Abubakar.

Reports have it that Ayodele Fayose and Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike were not happy with the results having supported Tambuwal for the ticket and a possible vice-presidential slot for Fayose.

Their plans fell apart however when Atiku Abubakar won the primaries with 1, 532 votes; more than half of the delegates present at the primaries.
