The last has not been heard about the Osun governorship election as the outgoing governor of the state Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has thrown a slur at the leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) calling them mentally unstable.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Gboyega Oyetola as winner of the rerun election which was marred by political violence and intimidation of voters by security agents.

The PDP rejected the results declared by INEC and insisted that the electoral body declare its candidate, Senator Adeleke as winner of the election.

The PDP leaders led by the Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki and the speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara staged a protest to the headquarters of INEC in Abuja to protest the result of the Osun governorship election and demand for the independence of INEC.

This protest was being carried out just as Rauf Aregbesola formally presented the governor-elect Gboyega Oyetola to President Muhammadu Buhari in company of the National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomole.

Reacting to the protest to INEC by the PDP leaders, Aregbesola described them as mentally unstable for protesting the outcome of the Osun governorship election won by his party candidate.

He said this at the press conference he held at the end of the visit to the President flanked by Oyetola and Oshiomole.

Asides from the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara; the Protest was joined by the the National Chairman of the PDP, Uche Secondus as well as the Presidential hopefuls under the party. Alhaji Atiku Abubakar was however conspicuously absent from the protest.

International Observers reiterated that the election rerun was shabby and marred by irregularities unlike the original Guber poll which had been largely peaceful and orderly.
