APC Expel Senator Omo-Agege, Send DSS, Police to arrest him

The drama that has pervaded Nigeria’s Political space as various political parties hold their party Primaries continues as the Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) led by Cyril Abeye Ogodo has expelled one of its own, Ovie Omo-Agege, the senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly.

Omo-Agege also happens to be the governorship candidate of another faction of the APC within Delta state for the 2019 general election.

The Party resolved to expel the senator during an emergency meeting of the State Working Committee (SWC ) in Asaba on Wednesday.

Delta state APC reiterated that it took the decision to expel Omo Agege from the party because of his continued involvement in anti-party activities.

The SWC of the State chapter of the party released a statement after their emergency meeting stating the facts surrounding the expulsion of Omo-Agege, reiterating that the expulsion was with immediate effect.

Read the statement below;

“The latest of such activities relates to the hijack of primaries panel members and materials sent from the national secretariat to conduct primaries in the state and deploying same to conduct unauthorised parallel primaries.

[Others are] the manipulation and tampering of delegates’ lists and the use of thugs to harass and deprive authentic delegates from access to primaries venues, all that in conjunction with Prophet Jones Erue and others who have earlier been expelled from our party.

The expulsion of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege is with immediate effect. The SWC also resolved to petition the security services, including the Police and DSS to arrest and prosecute Senator Omo-Agege, Prophet Jones Erue and others for impersonation and others actions calculated to breach public peace.”

Reacting to the statement however, Omo-Agege’s faction of the APC led by Jones Erue got together and also expelled the chairman of the party, the Governorship candidate as well as the senatorial candidate for the 2019 general elections.

The Jones Erue faction stated that the expelled people were committing anti-party activities, the same offence which Omo-Agege was accused of.
