“Antoine Griezmann is the Best Player In The World”

Antoine Griezmann

Atletico Madrid coach, Diego Simeone, believes that his striker, Antoine Griezmann, is the best player in the world.

The French forward was on song in the club’s Champions League game against Club Brugge, scoring twice and making another for teammate Koke.

Griezmann had earlier said that he believes he’s in the same league as Messi and Ronaldo and Diego Simeone believes there’s none better in the world at the moment.

He now has 4 goals from this season and after a summer of uncertainty in which he was heavily linked with a move to Barcelona, he is ready to truly kick on this season.

“I said it last season and I’ll say it again – for me Griezmann is the best player in the world,” said Simeone

“He won the Europa League, the World Cup, the [UEFA] Super Cup and finished second in a league in which both Barcelona and Real Madrid are in.

“He is in the place he wants to be. He chose to stay at Atletico and these are the consequences. He is enjoying a very important moment in his career.”

Atletico sit at the top of their group over Dortmund on six points and after last season’s disappointment which saw them relegated to the Europa League, the Spanish outfit is on course for a good season in the Champions League.

Griezmann feels partially responsible for last season’s disappointment saying on UEFA.com; “Last year I wasn’t at my best and I think our poor Champions League campaign was partly my fault,”

“We couldn’t have the kind of season in this competition that we wanted but now I’m feeling good and enjoying my football.

“Scoring twice is always nice, it gives you confidence and hopefully I can continue in that vein.”
