Following her public appeal to the Nigerian government to rescue her daughter from the clutches of Boko haram, the Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has communicated with the mother of the remaining Dapchi Schoolgirl in Boko haram captivity, Mrs. Rebecca Sharibu.

President Buhari assured the mother of Leah Sharibu that his administration would do everything possible to make sure her daughter is brought back home like the rest of her colleagues.

Leah Sharibu was among the 101 girls kidnapped in February this year by Boko Haram from Government Girls’ Science and Technical College (GGSTC), Dapchi, located in Bulabulin, Yunusari Local Government area of Yobe State.

While most of the girls regained their freedom a month later, 5 remained unaccounted for as the insurgents reported that they had died. They also held on the Leah because she had refused to renounce her Christian faith.

Mrs. Rebecca Sharibu appeared on Television, crying and pleading with the Nigerian Government to rescue her daughter from Boko haram after the Insurgents issued an October 15 deadline for the Federal Government to negotiate for her release or he will be killed.

The deadline was issued after the insurgents executed a female aid worker it captured during a raid on an IDP camp in Borno.

According to the Presidency, President Buhari consoled the Sharibu family and assured them that the Federal Government would do its utmost for the safety and security of their daughter.

“I convey my emotion, the strong commitment of my administration and the solidarity of all Nigerians to you and your family as we will do our best to bring your daughter home in peace and safety” President Buhari said.

He further assured Leah’s mother that his heart was with her family, like that of the entire nation which continues to pray for the safe return of “our daughter, Leah.”
