Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Aisha Alhassan, may be about to jump ship from the APC to the UDP.
According to the Punch, the controversial minister has tendered her resignation.
The News agency said that according to an unnamed aide of the minister, Alhassan is simply waiting for Buhari before her defection.
Recall that Alhassan was embroiled in a saga in which she endorsed Atiku for Presidency even with Buhari still in office.
According to the Punch, the media aide to Alhassan said that the defection is speculation and that the minister will put forward a response soon.

“We can’t say anything for now, but note that the masses own the party and we shall always align ourselves with their verdict.” said the aide
Alhassan is nursing an ambition to become the governor of her state, Taraba, an ambition which the APC has blocked as she was not granted clearance to run by the National Working Committee of the APC.
No reason was given for her inability to run, but it is believed that the leadership of the APC are holding a grudge over the Atiku endorsement saga.
According to a source of Punch Newspaper, “The minister is a force to reckon with in Taraba and nobody can win her among those contesting for the party’s gubernatorial ticket in the state.
“Her political weight became a threat to the bigwigs in the party who are out to satisfy their personal interests. Clash of interests in the APC led to the decision not to clear the minister whom they believe will win the ticket against their preferred candidates given whatever mode of primary that would be adopted by the party.”
If she makes the move to the SDP, it is likely she’ll be able to realise her ambition to run for office.
