Colombia to monitor alleged Venezuelan Troop movements on Border

President of Colombia Ivan Duque, will observe possible Venezuelan Military movements on the countries’ shared border, media reports on Wednesday quoted Foreign Minister Carlos Holmes Trujillo as saying.

Holmes Trujillo said that Colombia was grateful to U.S. Vice President Mike Pence, who warned Venezuela after it allegedly stationed troops on the border.

Citing news reports of the military movements, Pence called them “an obvious effort at intimidation’’ during an appearance at the UN General Assembly in New York.

He pledged that the U.S. would stand by its allies.

“Of course, President Ivan Duque is observing the evolution of the situation,’’ Holmes Trujillo told Colombian journalists in New York.

“Until now, we have not been informed about violations of Colombian territory,’’ Caracol Radio quoted the minister as saying.
