The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has just declared the keenly contested Osun governorship election as inconclusive because the number of cancelled votes is more than the margin between the top two parties, the PDP and APC.
INEC also announced that a supplementary election date would be announced soon while commending the people for their peaceful conduct during the election.
The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Senator Ademola Adeleke led the polls with 254, 698 votes while his closest rival Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC) scored 254, 345 votes; the number of cancelled votes was put at 3,498.

INEC said the reason for the number of cancelled votes was due to several irregularities recorded in certain parts of the state which included ballot snatching and minor disturbances in other areas.
The INEC returning officer Isaac Adeola Fuwape said “I hereby declare this election inconclusive”.
