The Governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, failed to deliver his hometown of Ijesha land to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Saturday’s gubernatorial election in the state, losing some local governments to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
While the Peoples Democratic Party won in Obokun, Ilesa West and Atakumosa West, the All Progressives Congress recorded wins in Ilesa East and Atakumosa East local governments.
In Obokun local government area, the PDP candidate, Sen. Ademola Adeleke polled 10,859 to defeat APC’s Gboyega Oyetola who polled a distant 7,229.
To compensate for the loss, the APC won in Ilesa East with 9790 votes against the PDP’s 8244 votes.
It was the turn of the PDP to win in Ilesa West with 8286 votes, while the APC only managed to garner 7251 votes.

But the APC won in Atakumosa East with 7073 votes compared to PDP’s 5218 votes.
However, PDP rallied to a win in Atakumosa West, polling 5401 votes to APC’s 5019 votes.
Meanwhile, a former Osun State Governor and APC National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande narrowly won his Ila Local Government Area for the APC.
The APC secured 8401 votes in the council, compared to the PDP’s 8241.
