What Going Round Nigeria Has Shown Me About Buhari’s Govt – Atiku

2 Min Read

Former Vice President and Peoples Democratic Party presidential aspirant, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has revealed what going around Nigeria has shown him about the current administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

He made the disclosure on Saturday in the Benue State capital, Makurdi, where he met the state’s delegates to the presidential primary of the party scheduled for October 5.

Atiku said that his journey across the length and breadth of the country has shown “total dissatisfaction” in the land.

He said, “There is nothing to cheer about the economy. Our unity is precarious and our security is deplorable.

“Everybody in the country, the farmers, businessmen and students, appear dissatisfied with the current government.

“That is why those of us who have gone round and have felt the pulse of the people are calling for a change in 2019.”

The Waziri Adamawa also restated his commitment to restructuring the country if elected as president in 2019.

However, he debunked claims that his support for restructuring was a political gimmick.

Atiku said, “I am truly committed to restructuring Nigeria because I believe that its future depends on leaders’ ability to confront the concerns of the people.”

He added, “Most segments of the country keep talking about restructuring. We cannot run away from that. We must confront it and tackle it.”

Also, Atiku slammed the All Progressives Congress (APC) for not restructuring the country despite making provision for it in its constitution.

Section 7 (2) of the APC constitution provides for restructuring and fiscal federalism, Atiku said, “But, the APC have refused to talk about it because President Buhari doesn’t believe in it. But it is there in their constitution.”
