How Buhari is trying to frustrate me – Fayose

3 Min Read

The Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has accused the Federal Government under President Muhammadu Buhari of withholding much-needed funds from the state in a bid to frustrate his administration.

According to a Friday statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, Fayose revealed this when Sokoto Governor and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential aspirant, Aminu Tambuwal visited the state to meet Ekiti State PDP Executives and delegates to drum support for his ambition ahead of the October 5 presidential primary of the party.

Fayose declared that the Buhari government was merely hiding under a fake anti-corruption toga to oppress opposition figures and hoodwink Nigerians.

The vocal governor said part of the oppression was the deliberate withholding of the latest tranche of Paris Club refunds from Ekiti, while Osun, which is an APC state, has been paid.

He said, “They have refused to give Ekiti our last tranche of the Paris Club refund and seized two months’ budget support money meant for us. APC is in power to oppress not to develop the nation. We have N11.8 billion remaining in the Paris Club refund not paid as they paid others. Because of Osun poll, they released money to them and three others. Buhari is not only old but outdated and dilapidated and those packacking him are doing that for their own benefits.”

Meanwhile, Tambuwal said that the APC’s desperation to remain in power “is why it is trying to shut down opposing voice in the country.”

Tambuwal, who recently defected from APC to PDP, declared the Muhammadu Buhari administration as insensitive, and vowed never to repeat the administration’s mistakes if voted into power.

“I won’t be insensitive to the feelings and plight of Nigerians if elected the president of this country. I also promised to run an all inclusive government as the president. It is very important to provide dynamic leadership for our country.  We are not ethnic jingoists,” the presidential aspirant said.

Tambuwal said he was in support of restructuring and fiscal federalism, noting that he would call all parties involved to a roundtable for discussions on how to achieve it.

The presidential aspirant added, “We need a great and united country and that is possible if we choose a leader that has a vision of one Nigeria. I have traversed the length and breadth of this country and have an idea of what the people want. I am in a good position to respect the sensibility and sensitivity of the people.”
