Senator Adeleke Failed the only Subject He wrote in our Exams – WAEC

Less than 48 hours to the Osun governorship election, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Adeleke has obtained a court order, restraining the police from arresting him.

Senator Adeleke had approached a High Court of Justice in Ejigbo, Osun State, after the Police accused him of engaging in examination malpractice and summoned him and several others to answer questions pertaining to the alleged exam malpractice.

The court granted Senator Adeleke’s application, and made an order restraining the police as well as;

“their agents or privies from taking any steps by way of arresting and or detaining the applicant that will infringe on the liberty and freedom of the applicant to prepare for and participate in the Osun State governorship election of the 22 day of September, 2018 and thereafter, pending the determination at the substantive application.”

The Nigeria Police had announced on Wednesday that it had filed charges against Senator Adeleke for examination malpractice, aiding and abetting, impersonation and criminal conspiracy; charges which were vehemently rejected by the Senator’s party, PDP, and his campaign organisation.

The Presidency had also cautioned the Nigeria Police, warning them to desist from arresting the dancing senator until the Osun governorship election had been concluded.

Also in connection with the case of Senator Adeleke’s results, the West African Examination Council (WAEC) confirmed to a high court that the senator had indeed sat for its exams in May/June 1981 at the Ede Muslim High School in Ede, Osun State as contained in an affidavit it presented to the court.

The court had ordered the examinations body to confirm via an affidavit sworn by it if the Senator had indeed registered and sat for the examinations. The court also ordered WAEC to produce the ledger containing results of Senator Ademola and his mates with whom he sat for the examinations.

In complying with the court order, WAEC also revealed that although the senator registered for nine subjects, he only sat for one; English language in which he scored an F9.
