The Zamfara state Police Command has intensified surveillance patrol throughout the state to ensure peaceful Sallah celebration.  The Eid-el-Kabir was marked on Tuesday all over the world which is the tenth of the month of Dhul Hijja in the Islamic calendar.  A News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) correspondent, who went round Gusau, the state capital and some of the neighbouring towns, reports that people were seen going about peacefully and in happy mood in celebration of the Sallah.  The police Public Relations Officer,  Muhammad Shehu told NAN that adequate security measures were put in place to ensure peaceful event.  “We deployed a total of 1,200 personnel from the command apart from other sister security agencies.  ”That is why we are confident that there will not be any security breach,” he said.  NAN reports that security personnel including the army, police, civil defense as well as other unconventional security outfit were seen patrolling the areas visited.  Meanwhile, all Imams that led today’s Eid prayers invoked Allah for a special intervention against armed banditry, which had overwhelmed the state especially in the past two years.  The bandits had sacked over 20 communities, destroyed farmlands, killed or rustled animals, displaced over 12,000 persons and killed several others within the period.  NAN also reports that with the recent deployment of more security personnel, the situation is gradually improving.
