It is safe to say at this point that Lionel Messi is a record-breaking machine as the Argentinian set yet another milestone in the La Liga
Messi wore the captain’s armband officially for the first time yesterday when Barcelona opened their La Liga campaign against Alaves who were more than up for the game.
Barcelona won the game 3-0 courtesy of a brace from Messi and a goal from Phillipe Coutinho, but it wasn’t an easy win by any means.
Barcelona had been dangerous all game but had to wait until the 64th minute before getting a goal from their captain.
The 5 time Ballon D’or winner flashed a freekick into the net and it was a milestone as it represented the 6000th goal scored by the Spanish outfit.

Thanks to the goal, it also made Messi the first player in the 21st century to score in 15 consecutive seasons in the La Liga

Messi might have had a disappointing World Cup with Argentina in Russia, but he has been quick to find his form for Barcelona and a lot will hinge on him to make Barcelona’s season successful as they look to continue to consolidate their dominance of the Spanish La Liga
