The National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, Adams Oshiomhole met with leaders of the Party on Tuesday to plot the impeachment of Bukola Saraki
The ruling party was incensed after the Senate President and the third most powerful man in the country crossed the party and defected to the PDP.
Since then there have been numerous statements and admonishments stating that Saraki has no right to hold office.
Oshiomhole is adamant that the removal of Saraki was only a matter of time as there was no way he will be able to dig himself out of this hole.
He said: “We will impeach Saraki legally and democratically. The only way he can avoid impeachment is to either resign or return to the majority party- even then we will not accept him, he should remain where he is.
“No amount of blackmail or sponsored analysts can stop his removal.”
The meeting was held in Abuja and had members of the APC caucus in the Senate in attendance, also in attendance, were house of reps members who had sworn allegiance to the APC.
The APC chairman is of the opinion that Saraki cannot ask the court to stop his impeachment as only the Senate can choose its leader.

He said: “In all of these, one thing is clear, the Senate president cannot change the real narrative in the Senate. The minority can have their say, and the majority will have their way at the Senate.
“If they have only 49, and the APC have 56, they will tell us anywhere in the world, where the minority will produce the leaders of the House. We cannot be subjected to a minority rule in Nigeria. Whether Senator Saraki likes it or not he can only take the part of honour by allowing the APC to take its rightful lead of the Senate. If not he would be impeached lawfully and democratically.
“As the governing party, we are committed to leading with example. In everything we do we ensure it is in the provisions of the law, Including the impeachment of Senator Saraki.
Oshiomhole added: “We have very important issues which requires the NASS to deliberate on before the presiding officers hurriedly adjourned the Assembly.
“The issue of obtaing foreign loans, without which the government cannot perform, the virement and the Presidents request for the approval of N242bn for INEC. You must act to actualise these, so that the democracy would not shut down as expected by Saraki. These issues require your serious attention to ensure that government gets the required assistance to provide the dividends of democracy to Nigerians.”
