Manchester united boss Jose Mourinho, has declared that he is happy and satisfied with his current set of players despite the club’s inability to acquire his desired player before the closure of the league transfer window.
The Mancunians secured the services of Fred, a Brazilian midfielder, young defender Diogo Dalot, and Lee Grant early on in the transfer window but has since failed to make further additions. Reports from the club have it that Mourinho wanted two players before the end of the window.
The club made unsuccessful bids for the premier league trio of Harry Maguire, Toby Alderweired, and Willian, as well as Ivan Perisic from Italian league, and Jerome Boateng from Bayern Munich. A final desperate bid for Diego Godin also fell through.
This implies the club will play Leicester city on Friday with almost the exact squad of last season, and will have to wait for the January transfer window to attempt new signings
Mourinho, who has visibly been frustrated in the entire saga still tried to be optimistic about the new league season.
The Portuguese in his press statement ahead of Leicester game said, “When you repeat 1000 times that my relationship with my players is not good, a lie repeated 1000 times is still a lie. I like my players and my group”.
“I enjoyed last season, the fight to finish where we finished and to manage the best position this club has had in five years. I’m going to enjoy this season”.
“I know the words you want me to say or not to say. It depends on the music, but words don’t come easy [at this stage]”.
“By the end of November or December you don’t need words, you’ll see by then which teams are candidates to win the Premier League”.
“At the moment, words are not important. Let’s play football and see by the end of November or December. You’ll see then which teams are candidates.”
