The senator representing Rivers South-East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Magnus Abe, has disclosed that some politicians that defected to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) recently are returning to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The APC senator made this known over the weekend while reacting to the gale of defection that has hit the ruling party in the past week.
Recall that 15 senators and 37 House of Representatives members last week defected from the APC to other political parties, mainly the PDP.
Abe, who spoke in Port Harcourt, said that nobody could deny that the APC still has the majority in both chambers of the National Assembly despite the defections.

The gubernatorial aspirant in Rivers said the defections will not negatively impact the fortunes of the APC.
He added that it will also not affect the reelection bid of President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 presidential election.
Meanwhile, the senator noted that the challenges confronting the APC now started as “small fires” that could have been put out.
He said the failure to nip the challenges in bud has led the party into its current challenge.

Abe said,“The majority in the Senate is APC and the majority in the House of Representatives is APC. Nobody can change that. In fact, some of those who even decamped are returning. Well, the truth of the matter is that a lot of things were not done properly in the party.
“A lot of things that started as small problems that could have been solved by the party very easily at the time they started were ignored.
“Those small fires that could have been put out with a spoon of water have now become raging infernos.”
