#BankWars: Sterling Bank Apologises For Shading Other Banks

1 Min Read

Just when Nigerians were beginning to enjoy the wits and humours in the twitter bank wars, Sterling Bank decided to pull the plug, and apologize for starting it.

Sterling drew first blood when they tweeted an advert which incorporated the logos and symbols of other banks in what many saw as a swipe at the affected banks.

Most of the affected banks responded with humorous shades of their own, much to the delight of Nigerians, but GTBank wouldn’t have any of that as reports have it that they reported Sterling to CBN.

If the reports are to be believed, then it means GTBank levied on a certain CBN rule which prevent banks from demarketing their competitors. Demarketing means spreading rumours, creating adverts, etc in order to discourage people from using the services of your competitor.

Sterling Bank has now apologised for the advert and deleted the tweet.
