“I Will Leave If You Don’t Want Me” – Yerry Mina Sends Warning To Barcelona

Barcelona defender, Yerry Mina

Colombian defender, Yerry Mina has insisted he wants to triumph at Barcelona but will leave if the Spanish champions keep on showing they do not want him.

The World Cup star made this known in an interview with Marca Claro over the weekend.

The first Colombian to sign for Barcelona, Mina joined from Palmeiras for 11.8 million euros in January 2018 to replace departed Javier Mascherano.

But the 23-year-old central defender has seen competition for places at the Camp Nou relegating him to the bench, with manager Ernesto Valverde preferring the duo of Gerard Pique and Samuel Umtiti in the central defensive role.

Therefore, Mina, who scored three goals in three games at the 2018 World Cup, cannot wait for a change of fortunes at club level.

Speaking of his performance at Russia 2018, Mina said, “Honestly, before the World Cup I only had the huge dream of playing. It was my first World Cup and I wanted to enjoy it as much as possible. At Barcelona I have barely featured and I needed to regain confidence and the truth is that things went well. Although I didn’t expect to score three goals.

However, he said he would respect his contract at Barcelona and hope for more playing time.

Asked if he would be considering other options, Mina declared, I have a contract with Barcelona and I want to be successful there. There have been offers for me but right now I want to enjoy my holidays and then we’ll see. If they don’t want me, I’ll have to look for the best exit, but I remember that my intention is to triumph with Barcelona because it’s the best team in the world.”

Responding to a question on whether he congratulated teammate, Samuel Umtiti on winning the World Cup, Mina said, “Umtiti and each and every one of the Barcelona players always have and always will receive my best wishes for every achievement. With Colombia not being there the truth is that I didn’t have a preference. In both teams there were Barcelona teammates so, whoever won, I was going to be happy for them.”
