Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti state has accused the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) of hijacking the ongoing gubernatorial election in the state.
According to report from Vanguard, the governor made the accusation on Saturday, July 14, shortly after casting his vote at his Afao ward unit.
He also alleged that majority of his staff have been detained by the police and that security agencies had taken over the responsibility of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
“INEC meant well but the process has been hijacked by police. It is a national disaster,”
the governor said. “I raised this alarm, that this Ekiti election may be marred by violence, and this is what is happening now.

“Majority of my staff have been arrested by the police. My chief of staff has been arrested.
The security agencies have taken over the responsibility of INEC. “The police authority has refused to pick their call; you cannot reach any one of them. This is sad.
he expressed the confidence that the PDP candidate, Kolapo Olusola, will defeat Kayode Fayemi of the APC.
