Mercedes Gives Style Update To 2019 G Class

2 Min Read

Premium automaker, Mercedes Benz has overhauled its G-Class series, with the 2019 model becoming the first top-to-bottom redesign of the series in its 40-year history.

The redesign comes across different sections of the vehicle, with frame, engine, suspension, interior design and others getting more than a cosmetic upgrade.

The 2019 G-Class, better known as G-Wagon, boasts a 4.8-inch wider body and a curved windshield.

The turn signals of the series also now come without the traditional Phillips-head screws on its blocky lights, as the front lamps have been redesigned to break away in case of collision with a pedestrian.

Also, the panel gaps on the door frame of the 2019 G-Class have been made half the size of the previous models.

Although the 2019 G-Class still features the same twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 as previous models, it however boasts nine-speed automatic transmission, unlike the seven-speed automatic transmission on earlier models.

The 2019 G-Class comes with independent control-arm front suspension mounted directly to the frame and electrically assisted rack-and-pinion steering, unlike the previous generation’s solid front axle and recirculating-ball steering.

A major interior redesign in the new G-Wagon is the installation of two cupholders on the centre console of the front seats, instead of the one installed on previous models.
The touchpad, climate controls, and dual 12.3-inch displays on the 2019 G-Class also deviate from what were provided in the previous models.

The backup camera on the 2019 G-Class has also been set lower to avoid the camera feed being blocked by the spare-tyre cover on G-series vehicles. The new series’s camera is also self cleaning, and works as part of a 360-degree camera system which greatly improves off-road visibility.
