Nigerian Ambassador to Sao Tome and Principe Dies In Service

The Nigerian ambassador to the Republic of Sao Tome and Principe, Queen Worlu, is dead.

She died on the 9th of July and President Buhari has commiserated with the family over her death and ordered that her remains be brought back into the country.

In a statement signed by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, praised Worlu and added “The order for the immediate evacuation of her body by the President has been effected by the Nigerian Air Force,’’

The statement also praised her service to the nation in a career spanning over 30 years.

“Ambassador Worlu was a talented career officer who gave her best to the Nation.

“She was an admirable diplomat who was associated with the good relationship that exists between Nigeria and all the counties of her posting.

“We pray to God to give her family the fortitude to bear this sad loss.”

Queen Imaria Worlu joined the Nigerian Foreign Service in 1987. She served in various capacities in the Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs before she was appointed as an ambassador by the Buhari administration.

She was also posted to Nigeria’s High Commission New Delhi-India in 2014 in the capacity of Minister (Trade and Investment). She became Deputy High Commissioner and on several occasions performed the duties of the High Commissioner to India at different periods in 2014 and 2015.

She is survived by her husband, Sam Worlu and their sons
