We know how you were rigged into office – Oshiomhole tells Fayose

Ahead of the July 14 gubernatorial election in Ekiti State, the new National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, has said that the party will not allow rigging during the election.

He accused the current state governor, Ayodele Fayose, of being a product of rigging, saying the party would not allow him to rig his deputy, Prof Kolapo Olusola Eleka into office.

Oshiomhole made this known on Wednesday after presiding over his first meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party.

Addressing journalists after the meeting, he said, “We have a candidate who is not new to governance, he has a track record.

“And we also know, in the last election which brought Ayo Fayose to office, how it was rigged. Money was collected from the NNPC, the military officers were used and the young officer who participated in the misuse of the armed forces made confessions.

“All those manipulating tools will not be used this time around.

“So, Fayose and his candidate will have to learn and prove that they were never familiar with rigging.

“They have to convince the electorate some glaring examples of omission and commission, which may not be deliberate. We took time and gave each of the 24 petitions adequate time, we invited the people involved, they turned up and we dealt with the issues”.
