Brazilian defender, Danilo Luiz da Silva who was added to the team squad as a replacement for Dani Alves has been ruled out of further participation in the World Cup following a severe left ankle injury.
The 26-year-old defender is deemed not likely to recover from his left ankle injury until after the World Cup.
The Brazilian Football Confederation released an official statement about the Manchester City player’s injury.
The statement read, “Danilo suffered a left ankle injury and will not have time to recover until the end of the cup.”
“In conversation with the commission, he will remain with the team in Russia. We cheer for your recovery.”
The Brazilian team is set to face Belgium today in the quarterfinals of the tournament.
