Angry Mom Gets ‘Sexist’ Pajamas Removed from Kids’ Clothing Store

4 Min Read

An angry mother in Melbourne Australia has managed to make business a little difficult for a kid’s clothing online store by getting the management to remove a line of children pajamas she termed as “sexist”.

The particular pajamas in the eye of this “sexist” storm were seen at Peter Alexander Sleepwear with the inscription “Boys will be Boys”.

The woman Bridie Harris then sent a letter to the management of the store on facebook accusing the store of selling sexist items. According to her “Boy won’t be boys. Boys will be held accountable for their actions. I hate to see an Australian store, who makes such great pjs, put such a sexist statement on a t-shirt intended for young boys. Excusing boys of their behavior is not a step in the right direction. It’s 2018,”

While many of the store’s customers saw the pajamas as cute, finding no offense with the inscription, this particular woman saw everything wrong with it. She inclined further in her letter to Peter Alexander “I just think that it allows boys to do whatever they want because they are boys. It gives them an excuse for inappropriate behavior. If a girl hurts someone or does something, you never hear someone that says girls will be girls,”

As incredulous as this may sound however, Alexander pulled the clothing from the website because of the complaint.

According to a spokesperson of the clothing store who responded to Harris “I just wanted to update you and again thank you for taking the time to get in touch with us and bringing this to our attention, we do not tolerate the behavior that is being associated with this slogan. In the light of your feedback, we have decided to withdraw this item from sale,”

The store is however facing a backlash from its customers and the public for this particular action rather than praises as they may have expected.

Many social media users just couldn’t wrap their heads around what is being described as a knee-jerk reaction by the clothing store just to accommodate the whims and caprices of a delusional feminist.

Some users wrote…….

“The phrase #boyswillbeboys is innocuous until you load it with your own preconceptions
Your reaction to it says more about yourself than anything else
If you think it can only be read as evil, then that’s how you see boys, and I feel sorry for you”

Others said….

“Wake up and smell the Covfefe (@gcarrick)”

“As I said. It used to be such an innocent saying. Where’s the evidence that sexual harassment is any worse than it has always been? — MacDaddy  (@YossaGiggis)”

“Shame on you Peter Alexander for removing the ‘Boys will be boys’ [pajamas]. Absolutely gutless. I expect your next range to be beige, baggy and unisex.”

Some other customers went further to make fun of the situation by pretending to be offended by other slogans, like the ‘You’re so fine!’ shirt, saying it also encourages sexual harassment.
