Drug Rehab Centre holds musical concert for addicts in Kaduna

Niggas Rehab Foundation involved in the rehabilitation of drug addicts in Kaduna has organised a musical concert to draw attention to the adverse effects of drug abuse on victims and the society.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that popular Northern  Hip Hop Artists, including Kannywood star Adam Zango,  Yahaya Makaho, television presenter Aminu Abba, also known as Nomis Gee, and B.O.C. performed at the event on Tuesday.
Lawal Muduru, Chairman of the foundation, said the event was organised to mark the International Day against  Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
According to him the concert is a new dimension introduced to sensitise young people through music and drama on how indulging in drug abuse would ruin their lives.
“Being the eleventh edition of enlightenment on drug abuse organized by the foundation, this time we invited northern musicians to enlighten the youths on the effect of the bad habit to their lives.
“The high rate of use of illicit drugs and addiction among the populace including under aged, some aged 10-15 years is very alarming.
“It is, therefore,very important for the government and key stakeholders to join hands and tackle this menace, which is on the rise daily, before it completely destroy our society,” Muduru said.
According to him, the rehabilitation centre currently has 150 inmates undergoing treatment and has in over 10 years of its existence treated and rehabilitated more than 2,300 drug addicts.
He explained that addicts brought to the centre spend between three months to a year depending on their condition. (NAN)
