The family of Kate Spade have been hit with a double whammy of tragedy.
A day before they were set to say a final goodbye to their daughter and sister, Kate’s father, Earl F. Brosnahan, Jr, died.
According to a statement from the Brosnahan family, “We are deeply saddened to announce that Katy’s father, Earl F. Brosnahan, Jr. (Frank), passed away last night at age 89. He had been in failing health of late and was heartbroken over the recent death of his beloved daughter. He was at home and surrounded by family at the time of his passing.”
Kate Spade committed suicide on the 5th of June and she was found in her apartment by housekeeping.
Her death, coupled with that of Anthony Bourdain really brought to the fore the talk of Mental Illness which has been a conversation that has been on the lips of many.
Kate and her father were close.
