A couple of days ago news of a woman who jumped to her death into the Lagos lagoon went viral and from it came stories of suicide and cheating and DNA tests.
It turns out it was all a hoax
The lady in question, Toyin, took to her Instagram page to show that she was alive and well and said she had no cause to commit suicide.
She wrote on Instagram: “Am alive, and I will leave long on earth #Emi ki yio ku iku kan biko se yiye #love#yall”
The woman also cleared the air on the situation in an interview with Daily Trust in which she said that her husband who drove the SUV was only trying to be a good Samaritan and that there was no suicide
Also, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) chimed in debunking the rumor and stated; “The attention of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has been drawn to a video clip on social media in respect of a woman who supposedly packed an SUV Ford Explorer and jumped into the Lagoon at the 3rd Mainland Bridge on Sunday 10th July, 2018.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the Agency officials is in touch with the owner of the SUV whose registration is been circulated, who only stopped by to offer assistance.”
While it has been confirmed that the lady who was alleged to have jumped into the river is alive and well, LASEMA is still conducting an investigation into whether someone jumped at all and if someone did then uncovering the identity of such a person in priority.
They also called for help on any missing person(s) saying: “anybody with any reliable information on any missing person should call the emergency toll free line, 112/767 or contact the nearest police station”.
