Real Hierarchy Displeased With Ronaldo Over Champions League Comments

There seems to be some terseness between Cristiano Ronaldo and the Real Madrid hierarchy as he seeks to become the best in the world in every sense of the word.

Ronaldo who won the Champions League for a Fourth time with Real Madrid on Saturday night was interviewed and he said this: “It was very nice to be in Madrid,”

This sounded like a goodbye and it was speculated the perhaps the forward was unhappy at Madrid and wanted to leave.

“In the next few days I will give an answer to the fans,” he replied. “Because they have always been by my side.” he added.

His tune seemed to have changed as 24 hours later a smiling Ronaldo was saying; “Thank you so much guys, see you next year.”

It seems the bone of contention is a new contract as Ronaldo wants to be the highest paid player in the world. At the moment, Ronaldo earns approximately 21 million EUR per annum at Madrid which pales comparably to the 40 Million EUR that Messi earns at Barcelona and the 36.8 Million EUR that Neymar earns at PSG.

Florentino Perez, the President at Real Madrid has so far resisted Ronaldo’s demands and he was very unhappy with  Ronaldo’s comments especially with the timing as he was rather brusque when asked about Ronaldo; “Do not ask me these things the day we are celebrating a Champions League title like today,” he said

“Everyone has the right to speak but here the important thing is the club, that we are all celebrating this title. Cristiano was happy, is happy and remains happy. He is under contract.”

When coach Zinedine Zidane was asked, he was in no mood to indulge the press.

“I’m not thinking about that,” Zidane said. “I am thinking about what we are doing now, the game, what we have achieved. On Cristiano, we will see later. He has to stay, yes or yes.”
