Mr Emeka Etiaba (SAN), the counsel to Olisa Metuh, has returned to court to defend the former National Publicity Secretary barely 24 hours after withdrawing from the case.
Metuh and his company Destra Nigeria Limited are currently being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allegedly obtaining N400 million from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) under Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd).
Justice Okon Abang of the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court had on Monday insisted that trial must go on after Etiaba applied for an adjournment following the collapse of his client in court.
This made Etiaba announce his withdrawal from the case, a move Justice Abang rejected, describing it as an attempt to delay the case.
However, Etiaba refused to answer any more questions posed to him by the judge, which made Justice Abang describe his behaviour as “rude and unethical”.
Justice Abang then adjourned the case till Tuesday following medical advice that Metuh needed to see his doctor
Although Metuh was not in court on Tuesday, Etiaba introduced himself as the defence counsel.
