The police on Wednesday arraigned two men, Lukman Oropo, 30, and Musliu Sikiru, 40 in an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State over goat theft valued at N50,000.
The defendants, who reside at Offin-Ile Community, Ikorodu, Lagos State, are facing two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Bosede Adegeshin, told the court that the duo committed the offences at Tiamiyu Shittu Street, Offin Area, Ikorodu, on April 20.
He said that the goats that belonged to Tiamiyu Shittu, the complainant, were recovered from the defendant’s house.
He added that “ Tiamiyu Shittu rears goat in his compound, but some weeks ago, he couldn’t find the goats and told the neighbours who helped him search the community and the goats were later found at the defendants home.”
The prosecutor said the offences contravened sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Laws, Lagos State, 2011.
However, the defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge and the Magistrate, Mr E. O. Ogunkanmi,
granted them bail in the sum of N30,000 each with a surety each in like sum.
Ogunkanmi adjourned the case until May 26 for further hearing. (NAN)
