President Buhari has met with Senate President, Bukola Saraki and the speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara
The meeting which took place in Aso Rock has been reported to have been largely dominated by the circumstances and the issue regarding Senator Dino Melaye representing Kogi West.
The Senator was arrested as he attempted to make his way to Morroco while being transported, he attempted to escape and in the process injured himself.
He was rushed to the National Hospital in Abuja.
He was then arrested again while hospitalised and he was arraigned before a magistrate.
The meeting apart from the Melaye issue also focused on were the President’s visit to the United States and the non-appearance of the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris who was in Kogi when the Senate asked for his presence in the wake of the arrest of Dino Melaye.
The IGP defended his position stating that he was on official duty in Bauchi with the President. He also stated that it was his constitutional right to send a representative.
The appearance was then shifted to Wednesday this week.
