Sir Alex Ferguson Rushed to Hospital for Emergency Surgery

2 Min Read

The former Manchester United manager and legend, Sir Alex Ferguson was rushed to the hospital to have an emergency for a brain haemorrhage.

A United statement said the procedure “had gone very well but he needs a period of intensive care to optimise his recovery

“His family request privacy in this matter.”

Darren Ferguson, who is Sir Alex’s son and also the manager of Doncaster Rovers had to miss his side’s final fixture of the League One campaign on Saturday to be with his father.

Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick was shocked by the news and tweeted: “Absolutely devastated to hear about Sir Alex being unwell in hospital. All my thoughts and prayers are with him and his family. Be strong Boss.”

Sir Alex Ferguson widely considered in some quarters as the greatest manager in the Premier League era retired in 2013 after winning a stunning 13 Premier League titles, five FA Cups, and two Champions League crowns in his time with the Red Devils.

He said at the time of leaving; The decision to retire is one that I have thought a great deal about. It is the right time.”

Ferguson was at the last Manchester United game with old rival Arsene Wenger to whom he presented a small trophy. The two have grown close over time and the fierce battle between them seems to have been forgotten.
