After awarding Wayne Rooney a mammoth £300k-per-week contract extension, Manchester United are prepared to offer similarly massive terms to tempt Toni Kroos to join in the summer, reports the Mirror.
The brilliant German Bayern Munich midfielder earns less than three times that at his current club, who are not willing to offer him such enormously lucrative terms.
The 24-year-old has been one of Europe’s best midfielders for a few seasons now, but truly announced himself to the English audience with a breathtaking display of passing football against Arsenal in the Champions League last week.
Kroos ran the show with his excellent technical ability, and his crisp, zipped passes; and capped off his wonderful performance with a lovely curling goal.
He would undoubtedly add something to a United side which is currently short in the middle of the park, but whether Bayern will be tempted to sell, or whether Kroos will be tempted to join a side who probably won’t be playing Champions League football is another matter.
