Gov. Darius Ishaku of Taraba on Wednesday pledged his administration’s commitment to building a befitting Government House for the state.
Ishaku told newsmen in Jalingo shortly after inspecting the proposed site of the project, located in the Kona Garu area of Jalingo that the when constructed the edifice would enable the smooth running of government’s affairs
According to him, as a professional architect, he is in the best position to give the state an edifice that will serve as seat of government.
“Many highly placed indigenes of the state have spoken to me on the need to build a befitting Government House for the state.
“So, I am here to inspect the site and as soon as we have funds , we will start the project; It is a big project and normally big projects like this start with a vision.
“We have a vision that has already matured, so, when we have money, we will deploy it into this project,” he said.
He urged the people of the area not to sell land at the proposed site, saying his visit to site was part of planning for the project, and that compensation would be paid to those who owned land in the area.
Ishaku called on the traditional ruler of the area the project will be sited, Chief Augustine Vengkani, to ensure peace in his domain.
Ishaku also held a meeting with engineers and architects in the state to review the site plan and other details of the project. (NAN)
