Boko Haram insurgency is a menace that has cost the nation tens of thousands of lives and billions in properties.
Since the onset of the dreaded insurgency which has left not less than 2.3 million people displaced, the Nigerian military has worked assiduously through various challenges to cut the insurgents to size.
One of the civilians assisting the military in this asymmetrical warfare is Aisha Bakari Gombi, a 40-year-old local hunter who has been nicknamed the “Queen Hunter” for her bravery.
The daughter of a local hunter, Aisha has deployed her extensive knowledge of the vast Sambisa Forest in assisting the military track and tackle insurgents.
She leads a local band of hunters, armed with local weapons, to defend their local communities.
They equally confront insurgents who captive women and children, and have liberated hundreds of these defenceless people from Boko Haram insurgency.
When not on Boko Haram-hunting duties, Aisha, who gave birth to her first child in 2017, stays with her husband in their village in Borno.
