An Ethiopian teenager who was gang-raped in Sudan has been convicted for “indecent acts”.
The 18-year-old victim was three months pregnant at the time of the attack.
She was arrested after film of her assault was posted online, reports the BBC.
The teenager was given a one month suspended jail term.
If she had been found guilty of charges of adultery and prostitution, she could have been sentenced to death by stoning. However, these charges were dropped.
Her three attackers were sentenced to 100 lashes for adultery.
Two men who posted the video online reportedly received 40 lashes, said the BBC.
The rape happened after the woman was lured to an empty property while house-hunting, close to Khartoum.
She could now be deported.
