Popular lawyer, Festus Keyamo (SAN) has been conferred with “Defender of Press Freedom Award” by the Nigerian Union of Journalists.
In a letter signed by the NUJ National Secretary, Shuaibu Usman Leman, and addressed to Keyamo, the union said that the Award Selection Committee adjudged the lawyer as the winner of the award after sifting through “many nominations received from journalists and members of the Nigerian public”.
Keyamo posted a copy of the letter on his Twitter page.
According to the letter, the award will be officially presented at an Award Ceremony in Abuja on May 5.
The Award Ceremony, according to the NUJ, is part of activities marking the 2018 World Press Freedom Day, a day that is commemorated every May 3.
