How Buhari’s Govt Used Dapchi Girls To Get $1 Billion Fund – Fani-Kayode

2 Min Read

Former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has accused the Federal Government under President Muhammadu Buhari of using the Dapchi girls to justify the release of $1 billion security fund.

A fierce critic of the All Progressives Congress (APC) government, Fani-Kayode further accused the government of lying about the purpose of the funds, saying that while the government said it was to combat insecurity, including the Boko Haram menace, its purpose is to prosecute the 2019 re-election bid of the president.

Islamist terror group Boko Haram abducted 110 girls from the Government Girls Science and Technical College, Dapchi in Yobe State on February 19 and returned them on March 21.

However, the only Christian among the girls, Leah Sharibu, remains in Boko Haram captivity for refusing to convert to Islam.

The Minister of Defence, Brig.-Gen. Mansur Dan-Ali disclosed on Wednesday that Buhari approved $1 billion for fighting insecurity across the nation.

However, Fani-Kayode described the reason given as a ruse.

He said, “It is common knowledge, and I wrote it at the time, that Dapchi had one purpose: it was stage-managed by the govt. to justify the release of yet another $1 billon dollars to “fight Boko Haram”. Truth is the money wil be used, not for BH, but to fund Buhari’s 2019 re-election campaign.”
