FG’s Allegations Against Me Because Of 2019 – Ekweremadu

The Deputy Senate President, Dr Ike Ekweremadu, has described the false assets declaration accusations against him by the Federal Government as being orchestrated because of the 2019 general election.

Ekweremadu, the highest-ranking Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) official in the current administration, said the allegations would crumble as he would never be intimidated nor silenced.

In the same vein, he urged his constituents to disregard an ex-parte motion of asset forfeiture filed before a court by the Special Presidential Investigation Panel (SPIP) for the Recovery of Public Property.

Recall that Ekweremadu had accused the head of the panel, Mr Okoi Obono-Obla, of colluding with removed Chief Judge of Enugu, Justice Innocent Umezulike, and a lawyer, Tagbo Ike, to break into the probate registry of the Enugu State High Court to steal his original will and replace it with a photocopy containing imaginary properties.

Obono-Obla had strongly denied the allegation, describing it as “childish” and threatening to sue Ekweremadu for defamation.

Speaking with his constituents from Awgu LGA of Enugu State over the weekend, Ekweremadu said, “I want to thank you for the show of solidarity. I have been inundated with calls, messages, and visits by concerned constituents and well-wishers within and outside the country.

“But, there is really nothing to worry about because the entire thing is a well-oiled propaganda on lies and doctored will that includes fictitious properties, just to cow me. It is also about 2019 politics.

“Rest assured that I will not refrain from speaking up in defence of democracy.”
