Artisan Stripped Naked By SARS Operatives, Plans To Sue

2 Min Read

A man, Lucky Joseph, who was captured on video being harassed by agents of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad(SARS), Rivers State Police Command, has asked for legal assistance, stating he wants to claim damages for the injuries inflicted on him by the agents.

The video of Joseph being beaten, after he was stripped naked by the SARS agents, has gone viral.

Lucky claims that he was also beaten with a machete by the operatives, who later extorted N30,000 from some residents of Odums Street, close to the University of Port Harcourt.

Joseph, who said he had considered suing the police, stated that as an artisan, he did not have the finances to do so.

“I cannot visit the police command because I am afraid. I also don’t have money. If I had the means, I would have taken up the matter by myself. I would have gone to court because what happened to me was an embarrassment.

“If I go to court, they (police) will pay me damages. Don’t you think that is how it should be? Any lawyer that will stand for me can take everything. I am very angry because of what they did to me,” he added.

He, however, said that some security officers had visited the scene of the incident and taken video shots of some points in the place.

“Some SARS officials were here to video the place; I was told they came with their boss from Abuja. I did not come outside,” he added.
