An unemployed man, Peter Adeoye, 28, who allegedly stole microphones and speakers valued at N325, 000 from two churches, on Friday appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.
Adeoye, who resides at No.1, Alade St., Iba new site, Igando, a suburb of Lagos, is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, burglary and stealing.
The Police Prosecutor, Sgt. Innocent Odugbo, told the court that the accused committed the offences with some others still at large on Feb. 9, at Candos Road, Baruwa Ipaja, Lagos.
Odugbo said the accused burgled a Redeemed church and the Adoration Chapel Church, and carted away the gadgets.
“They were, however, caught by some security guards, who apprehended the accused, while the others escaped,” he said.
The offences violated Sections 287, 306 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos, 2015.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 287 stipulates a three-year jail term for offenders.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
In his ruling, the Magistrate, Mr A. O Komolafe granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He adjourned the case until April 11 for mention. (NAN)
