Armed men have burned the membership register of the All Progressives Congress which was being collated at the Ninth Mile Corner in Udi local government area of Enugu state.
According to reports, the armed thugs ambushed the APC members and carried out the register, poured petrol on it and set it ablaze.
One of the APC supervisors, Ebubeagu Festus Okafor, who spoke with journalists at the Ninth Mile police Station said the armed thugs were led by one Isaac Nwoye.
Okafor said the thugs stormed the building and ordered everyone to lie down.
“Surprisingly, one of them broke a bottle on the table and threatened to stab me, but I ran away and everybody scampered for safety as they were many in number, wielding various dangerous weapons. As we were not prepared for any reprisal attack, we made haste and ran away.
“When I came out, one of them rushed me and I saw him and I knew him by name, residence and occupation. And I called him Isaac Nwoye, so you are the person that came here to maim and kidnap people? He asked me, why are you here? Are you part of this people? He said the registration of APC ended yesterday. So, what are they doing here?
“As I was talking with him, two of them came in and started beating me here and there. I resisted them to the best of my ability but when they wanted to overpower me, I shouted the name of Isaac Nwoye for people around to hear even if they kill me. “
“I shouted his name to let people know the person that led the gang. As I was shouting his name, they slowed down the attack on me and attacked some other members of our party,” Okafor said.
He said the PDP hoodlums packed the registration materials into Nwoye’s SUV and drove off. He also stated he was displaced of his phone, file and N5,000.
