OBJ Visits Graveyard Of 73 Benue Residents Murdered On New Year’s Day

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Saturday visited the mass gravesite of 73 persons allegedly murdered by herdsmen in Guma and Logo LGAs of Benue State on New Year’s Day.

Obasanjo is in Benue to commiserate with the people and government of the state on recent herdsmen-related killings that have reportedly claimed at least 158 lives.

He is expected to visit the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp located in Agan Toll Gate, where over 34, displaced residents of the state are taking refuge.

Obasanjo will also hold a stakeholders’ meeting on the herdsmen crises at the Government House in Makurdi.

The former president was received at the airport by the State Governor, Samuel Ortom and other top government functionaries in the state.

Since the killings began, many prominent politicians have been visiting the state on condolence visits.

Governors Ayo Fayose and Nyesom Wike of Ekiti and Rivers States respectiely have also visited the state.

President Muhammadu Buhari is expected in the state on Monday as part of his condolence visits to states affected by Boko Haram, herdsmen/farmers clashes and cult-related violence.
