2 Min Read

The Emir of Gusau in Zamfara, Alhaji Ibrahim Bello on Friday conferred the traditional title of “Mu’alliyedin Gusau” on the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Alhaji Sanusi Rikiji.

Speaking while presenting the certificate of the title to Rekiji at the emir’s palace, the emir said the title was given to the speaker in recognition of his contributions to the development of the emirate.

Bello said the title of “Mualliyedi is the name of the Son of Sultan Muhammadu Bello, grandson of Sheik Usman Bin-Fodio and founder of Maradun town in the state.

“We are giving this name as a tittle to one of his grandsons, the Speaker, Alhaji Sanusi Rikiji.

“It is one of the major traditions of this emirate that any of its people that do good, we reward him with a traditional title as a mark of appreciation and encouragement.

“We are promoting him with new tittle of “Mu’alliyedin Gusau”, therefore it replaces his former tittle of “Shantalin Gusau”, he said.

Responsing, while receiving the certificate, the Speaker thanked the emirate for giving him the title and promise to continue to work toward the development of the emirate.

Rikiji represented by the Dallatun-Gusau, Alhaji Ahmad Umar, said he would work to justify the confidence reposed in him by the Emirate as one of its ambassadors.

He also thanked the emir for his foresight in rewarding his subjects that contributed to the development of the emirate. (NAN)
